Dear readers,
We are standing today in the VUCA WORLD. VUCA stands for Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous.
VUCA as an acronym was coined by the US military to describe extreme conditions of Afghanistan and Iraq.
The same is applicable for Data Science too. All these changes were witnessed just within 10 years! Same way,
establishing Business Intelligence system with automated reports, a dashboard was a big achievement
8-10 year back and people used to take 3-5 years to move up-to-the data science value chain of predictive
analytics in any organization.
Today, companies are working on Machine Learning, Deep learning, Artificial Intelligence within the second year of their establishment of Data Science
department. Along with that, Business is changing rapidly. So, the world is changing and the pace at which it’s changing is also changing very rapidly.
Skills are becoming obsolete within a few months. It’s no more possible to learn something in college and apply them in a job throughout the career. We
require to keep learning and adapt our skills to the recent requirement. Retirement age is no more fixed to 60. Any day we stop learning, the day we
stop reinventing ourselves, will define our retirement from this skill race. How to keep ourselves relevant in this VUCA world?
The best way to learn, in this VUCA world is peer learning. Learn from your peers, from your juniors, from peer companies and startup companies. Data
Astronaut is our endeavor to bring a few of such learnings from top global Data Science practitioners and academicians. This is not just another Data
Science magazine, this is a Network that thrives on doing great works in this field and collaborates with each other to be collectively and ethically
successful.
