What are the Women in AI Leadership and AI Start-Up Awards?
The Awards, is Data Science Foundation International’s flagship initiative which endeavours to identify and honour women entrepreneurs and start-ups who bring transformational changes in the local context and across sectors/borders. It is an endeavor to recognize and celebrate stories of exceptional women changemakers and start-up companies deploying Data Science/AI from across the world.
What is the selection process for the Awards?
The selection process involves an application round, from where shortlisted applicants will undergo one round of screening by esteemed panels including leadership from Enterprise Ireland and Women In Leadership before the winners are announced.
When will the awards process be launched/ When is the last date for nomination?
Applications have been announced. Last date for the submission is 31st Mar 2022.

Public and Community Service |
Enterprises which are engaged in public works and community services for creating social impact. Areas: Civil society, grass-root governance, law enforcement and legal justice, gender equality, international collaboration, education and skill development, health, water and sanitation, hygiene, waste management. |
Manufacturing |
Enterprises which are engaged in the mechanical, physical, or chemical transformation of materials, substances, or components into new products by hands, power-driven machines and materials-handling equipment. Areas: Clothing and Textiles, Petroleum, Chemicals and Plastics, Electronics, Computers and Transportation, Food Production, Metal Manufacturing, Wood, Leather and Paper, Furniture among others. |
Non-manufacturing and service |
Enterprises which are engaged in all tertiary and quaternary sector activities other than ITeS, banking and financial products. Areas: Agriculture and allied activities, retail, e-Commerce, services,maintenance and repairs, consulting, Journalism. |
Fintech and Financial inclusion |
Enterprises which are working towards development or improvement of solutions that seeks to improve and automate the delivery and use of financial services. Areas: Fintech solutions, banking, insurance and other financial products. |
Climate Action |
Enterprises which are working towards environmental protection and conservation; and are engaged in development or improvement of energy efficiency products or processes or services. Areas: Environment, energy including renewable energy, remedial solutions for curbing impact of climate change. |
Promoting art, culture, heritage and handicrafts |
Enterprises which are engaged in development and promotion of art, culture, entertainment, recreational activities and handicrafts. Areas: Arts, handloom, handicrafts, heritage products, textiles, leather and others; Modern art forms; Sports. |
Digital innovation and DeepTech |
Enterprises which are working towards innovation, development or improvement of products or processes or services driven by technology. Areas: Science and technology, IT, ITeS, New Media and communication. |

I do not have a business, but have an idea for setting up a business, can I apply?
Currently the Awards are for women entrepreneurs/leaders or start-ups who have existing business(es). We wish you luck for building your idea, and hope you come back to apply next year.
I identify myself as a gender fluid person/woman, can I apply?
Yes, DSFI accepts applications from anyone who identifies themselves as a woman.
How do I know my application status?
Once you submit your application, you would have received a confirmation message on the screen. This means your application has been submitted successfully. Regarding the status of your application, we wish to get back to you at the earliest, please wait to hear from us.
Will I have to travel to Dublin during the selection process?
You might have to travel to Dublin if your application gets selected for the final round. We will provide you the necessary information in advance for planning logistics. For any interim diligence/interview (will happen on remote conference if needed), we will provide more details based on your application status.
What is the benefit of applying for DSFI Awards 2022?
The winners of the Awards will be recognised and felicitated during the International Data Science Summit on 19th and 20th May at Dublin as organised by Data Science Foundation International (DSFI) in partnership with Enterprise Ireland and Women in AI organisation. The shortlisted candidates will get rewards which include opportunity to get connected with DSFI and DSS’s Industrial partners, sponsors, & niche AI leadership community; access to possible mentoring/ skilling / VC support.
What happens if I get selected for the Awards 2022?
If you get selected for the Awards 2022, you will be required to travel to Dublin for the felicitation event, which is going to be held on 19th and 20th May 2022. We will provide more details based on your application status.
How can I engage with DSFI and/or Data Science Summit whether I get selected or not?
Keep a close look into the delegate booking for the event. You can join us as a delegate in our summit once you book your pass even if you are not selected for the award.
Do I need to upload any document before submitting the application?
Yes. Upload any one of the following:
a) Certificate of incorporation /registration by the state/country
Or
b) Books of accounts for last 6 months with tax number which are certified by CA/CFA/CMA of your state/country.
